"... let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance" Proverbs 1:5

News outlets reported last week very sizable tips were being left for waitresses, waiters and bartenders in various states with the word's "Tips for Jesus" written on the credit card receipts. Tips apparently have ranged from $1,000 to $5,000 and even as high as $10,000. Naturally, this generous behavior is getting attention and it is hard to argue with the Lord's name being associated with selfless Christian actions. Heartwarming stories of how the beneficiaries of the tips being able to pay down student loans or purchase a much needed vehicle have been part of the coverage of this phenomenon.

While those receiving those tips are needy in some way or another, at, we can't help but think the money could be given much more effectively if the tippers first checked out our database rather than giving randomly. Now, the Lord often works in mysterious ways and we do not want to get in the way of what the Lord might be doing. We always say donors should give as the Lord directs them regardless of what help they may get from Still, we believe more often than not, it is wise to be as informed and educated as possible as you consider your giving options.
