Helping the Typhoon Victims in the Philippines
November 11, 2013
"He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death." Psalm 72:13
The video and pictures coming from the Philippines following the nation being hit by what some say is the strongest typhoon or hurricane to ever make landfall (reported wind gusts were as high as 235 miles per hour) reveal considerable devastation in a country ill-equipped to handle it. Many donors will be looking for charities to give money to in order to help those who are in such great need of immediate assistance. Many charities will swing into action right away, some of which are Christian ministries that will bring the gospel message with them as well. Many ministries will be raising money to help those in need but, given the scale of the disaster, larger relief and development ministries like World Vision and Operation Blessing will likely be the most effective in the early phases of the relief effort. Denominational relief ministries are also a good option in circumstances like this. Another ministry worth looking at is Medical Teams International.
