Purpose

Mission statement

Our mission is to establish and operate radio stations and related media facilities for the purpose of advancing a program of Christian education using an artful blend of music and Scripture, stimulating instruction, interesting guests, and great books, all done in the public interest.

Statement of faith

We do affirm and declare our belief in the Christian faith and do set forth the following: - The Bible as the divinely inspired and authoritative word of God. - The triune Godhead in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. - The personality of Satan and his present control over unregenerate man. - The fall and lost estate of man whose total depravity makes necessary his new birth. - The deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, death, bodily resurrection, present exaltation at God's right hand and His coming again. - The reconciliation of man to God by the substitutionary death and shed blood of Jesus Christ, our Savior. - The resurrection of the saved unto everlasting life and blessedness in heaven and the resurrection of the unsaved unto everlasting punishment in hell. - The Church, the indivisible body of Christ, bound together by the Holy Spirit, consisting only of those who are born again, for whom He now makes intercession in heaven and for whom He shall come again. - Christ's great commission to the Church to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature, baptizing and teaching those who believe.

History

Organized as a Nevada Non-Profit Corporation on July 24, 1962, Western Inspirational Broadcasters, Inc. put KNIS-FM on the air 8 years later on November 25, 1970. During the next 20 years, the ministry installed 21 low-power FM translators to cover substantial segments of Nevada west to east along Interstate 80 and US Highway 50. In California, the translator network stretched north and south along the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada, Lake Tahoe, and Lake Almanor down Highway 395 to Big Pine. US 95, from the Oregon border down to Hawthorne, and communities in between are also served by this network. In 1990, the ministry expanded into Wyoming and Montana with the acquisition of KCSP-FM in Casper. It took 10 more years to establish a statewide network of an additional 21 FM translators, including one in Billings. In 2002, KLMT-FM was built to optimize the signal strength in that community. In 2008, the ministry acquired KDNR-FM in Wyoming's capital city of Cheyenne. Then in 2010, KTME-FM, Reliance-Rock Springs was built to establish a hub for the ministry's growth in Southwestern Wyoming. Also, in the Fall of 2010, KNVQ-FM, Spring Creek-Elko was built to enhance Pilgrim Radio coverage in Eastern Nevada as an additional network hub. In 2011 the ministry purchased KPMD-FM, Evanston, WY and built KMJB-FM, Hudson, serving Riverton and Lander, WY. In 2012, KDOX-FM, Big Pine, CA was built, serving Bishop, Mammoth Lakes, and the Owens Valley. All of the stations are commercial free and listener supported, operating 24 hours daily in the Pacific and Mountain time zones. In 2006, the ministry began streaming its unique program format world wide on the internet at pilgrimradio.com. From the beginning, our mission has been to faithfully and carefully declare God's Word and explain its meaning. Our intention is to advance a program of Christian education with an artful blend of music and Scripture, stimulating instruction, interesting guests, and great books. Pilgrim Radio continues to seek opportunities for service by the establishment and operation of radio stations and related media facilities in the inter-mountain and desert west and around the world.
