Songtime, Inc. ("Songtime") is a non-denominational, not-for-profit, international radio ministry bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world. Songtime's purpose is to proclaim the Gospel using the most exciting format in Christian broadcasting - music, interviews, news and sound Bible teaching from speakers all around the world. Songtime also supports the efforts of the "church organism" primarily through the media of radio, but also through tapes, the internet, books, and other printed material. Our radio broadcast is used to help promote special projects as well as the endeavors of other ministries to spread the Gospel. For nearly 40 years Songtime and Host John DeBrine has been a beacon that calls people to reconciliation with God and to one another. This emphasis on reconciliation and biblical values helps families to stay together, gives hope to the hopeless, and fosters perseverance in those facing difficult times. This call also demands a response that results in the demonstration of the love of God through obedience to Him, acts of love and good will by individuals in their families and communities. Songtime also challenges people to personal and civic responsibility. These things are accomplished through the means of radio, audio and printed resources, the Internet, and personal and community outreach. All these things result in strengthening individuals, families, churches, communities, and has the ultimate effect of making the world a better place.

Songtime, Inc. ("Songtime") is a non-denominational, not-for-profit, international radio ministry that proclaims the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world. Host Dr. John DeBrine brings the most exciting format in Christian broadcasting - music, interviews, news and sound Bible teaching from speakers all around the world. Dr. John DeBrine has earned the 50-year lifetime achievement award by the National Religious Broadcasters.

The small staff consists of four full time, and two part time personnel. Songtime has an unpaid Board of Directors and depend on many volunteers. The full-time staff, which consists of President and Host, Dr. John DeBrine, Producer/Engineer Dan Hiller, Communications Director John Peden, and Office Manager Chris Zolenski, has over 120 years of aggregate professional experience. The part time help consists of Media Specialist Dave Lowe and Office Assistant Dottie Dark.

Songtime produces a 30 minute daily and a 60 minute weekly radio broadcast, heard on over 30 stations, featuring news, teaching, and interview segments that are "sandwiched" with inspirational music that amplifies the point made in the neighboring segment. This popular broadcast format is fast paced, with a new feature or song introduced every 5 to 7 minutes. The spontaneity and pace of the broadcast are some of the reasons behind its longevity. Another key to its success is the willingness of Dr. John DeBrine to share the microphone. The "Many Voices, One Message" approach allows others to make use of their gifts and talents so that our audience is educated and encouraged.

Mission statement

The following represents Songtime's purpose:

Songtime's purpose as a non-denominational parachurch ministry is to support the efforts of the "church" organism primarily through the media of radio, but also through tapes, the internet, conferences, books, and other printed material. Songtime's broadcast is focused in the area of "spiritual obstetrics - evangelism" and spiritual pediatrics - discipleship". Songtime also helps promote the efforts of many other ministries, as well as the many special projects of Songtime USA. Our motto, "Many Voices, One Message" tells of Songtime's unique approach to ministry through our assistance to others in their endeavor to spread the Gospel. We also use and share our technical "know how" to help others be more effective in their ministry.

Statement of faith

Songtime subscribes to the following statement of faith:

We believe in the inspiration of the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments; the creation of man by the direct act of God; the Incarnation, the Virgin Birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; His identification as the Son of God; His vicarious atonement for the sins of mankind by the shedding of His blood on the Cross; the Resurrection of His body from the tomb; His power to save man from sin; the new birth through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit; and the gift of Eternal Life by the Grace of God.

Songtime began as an outreach from the Ruggles Street Baptist Church in Boston. In the 1950's, Dr. John DeBrine was the Pastor and began to utilize the radio media as a means to introduce the public to the ministry of the Church. The broadcast had a unique format in that it integrated the use of musical segments with biblical teaching. Dr. DeBrine was also very involved in Youthtime and Youth for Christ, two ministries that had a profound impact on the youth of that era. In 1964, John DeBrine left the pastorate of the Ruggles Street Church to dedicate his efforts to the daily radio broadcast of Songtime USA.

Since 1964, Songtime has used the media of radio to encourage and teach the Christian perspective on life, values, and behavior. Songtime also uses other methods to communicate biblical truth and we offer printed media, audiotapes and CDs, and the internet to supplement our "on-air" outreach. We send out over 35,000 tapes annually, over half of which are given to those in need of encouragement or teaching at no charge. Most of those who listen to Songtime daily or who utilize our other resources are encouraged and have their lives profoundly changed. This has the ultimate effect of making the world a better place.

Program accomplishments

Over the years, Songtime has contributed to philanthropic efforts in many ways. Using the radio to rally and enlist listeners, Songtime has helped in many benevolent projects. During the Balkan conflicts, our "Socks for Bosnia" facilitated the sending of literally tons of socks to be distributed through missionary agencies. Warm socks were very much welcomed in this cold, war torn area where such supplies were in need.

Songtime has exhibited a long-term commitment to encouraging military personnel. While our troops were in Bosnia during the Balkan conflict, Songtime supplied encouragement through our tape, "A Lasting Peace," to military personnel. In the early 90's during the Desert Shield/Desert Storm operation, Songtime provided tapes entitled "Shield of Faith." Currently, we are giving military chaplains our CD, "When Your World Falls Apart - Life Lessons from a Ground Zero Chaplain," for distribution to military personnel. So far, over 4,000 CD's that provide encouragement and the Gospel message have been mailed.

Another project where Songtime has enlisted listeners was during our "CD's for the nations" project where we provided inspirational music CD's to help start radio stations through the HCJB radio ministry in Eastern Europe.

Songtime has always been committed to helping local churches in their work. We have helped pastors by inviting them to receive counsel and encouragement at our annual conference's pastor's meeting. Additionally, Songtime provides many teaching resources to churches to support their ministries. Dr. John DeBrine speaks at many churches to encourage, challenge, and exhort congregations to reach out to their communities and do the work of the ministry.

Songtime has an important, profound but often intangible and unmeasurable effect on listeners. Songtime proclaims the message of reconciliation and forgiveness of God toward man, and man to one another through the Good News of Jesus Christ. Many people who become involved with our ministry through the radio or our other resources have their lives profoundly impacted. Others find encouragement through our daily broadcast or other resources that Songtime provides. Our emphasis on reconciliation and biblical values helps families stay together, gives hope to the hopeless, and fosters perseverance in difficult times. This has the ultimate effect of making the world a better place.

Host Dr. John DeBrine is an NRB 50 year lifetime achievement award recipient for his work with Songtime and also other radio endeavors.

Ministry Needs as of May 30, 2003

The ministry is always in need of financial support, as we would like to extend our reach into new radio markets and the internet. Radio programming costs account for most of our expenses, and to expand Songtime's extent will require significant startup funds.

Another need is to migrate many of our audio resources from cassettes to digital formats, such as CD's and MP3, which will require capital expenditures. We currently must out-source all of our CD duplication, which requires minimum lot sizes of 1,000 units. Having a basic CD duplication ability in-house would enable us to service smaller requests.

Our production studio is always in need of equipment upgrades to keep abreast technologically and maintain the required broadcast quality required by the industry.
