Mission statement

Statement of faith

Galcom International Inc. STATEMENT OF FAITH

Inspiration of the Scriptures: We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the verbally inspired word and revelation of God, inerrant in the original writings, and that it is of supreme and final authority in faith and practice. (Psalm 19:7-11; II Timothy 3: 16, 17; II Peter 1:16-21; Psalm 119:9-11)

The Triune God: We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John l5:26; John 14:26; John 16:13-15; John 10:30, 36; John 17:21-23; Genesis 3:22; II Corinthians 13:14; Deuteronomy 6:4)

Deity and Humanity of Jesus Christ: We believe in the virgin birth and deity of Jesus Christ our Lord, that He is true God and true Man. (Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:1-15; Hebrews 1:1-10; Colossians 2:9)

Jesus is the Messiah of both Testaments: We believe that Jesus is the Messiah and Saviour of the world. He was pre-existent before the foundation of the world. He is now seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again as King of Kings. (Isaiah 53; Luke 4:16-21; Psalm 110:1; Genesis 49:10; Hebrews 1:2; John 1:1,2)

Blood Atonement: We believe in the penal substitutionary atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ; that He by the grace of God tasted death for every man, and that all must be born again through personal faith in His shed blood or be forever lost. (Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 26:28; John 3:16; Romans 5:9; Hebrews 9:14; I Peter 1:18,19)

Resurrection and Exaltation of Christ: We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and that He is now seated at God's right hand as our Mediator and high Priest. (Acts 3:12-26; John 20; Hebrews 9:25; I Corinthians 1:8; I Corinthians 15:12-20; I John 2:1)

Second Coming of Christ: We believe in the personal, premillennial, and imminent second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 1:11; I Corinthians 15:51-54; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 19:11-21; I John 14:1-3)

Holy Spirit: We believe in the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit; that on the day of Pentecost He came into the world to abide; that He indwells all regenerate persons; that He instructs, helps, and purifies the Body of Christ; that He convicts the individual of sin, unrighteousness, and judgment; and that He is the infallible Interpreter of the Scriptures. (John 14:16-17; John 16:7-15; I Corinthians 6:19; Ephesians 2:22; I Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 4:30; Ephesians 5:18; I John 2:20)

Israel is the Chosen Nation: We believe God loves Israel with an everlasting love. He has chosen her above every nation and called her to His glory. Because of her disobedience, God has placed a veil upon her heart. But the time will come when Israel will be saved as a nation. (Jeremiah 31:3; Genesis 12:1-3; Isaiah 46:13; II Corinthians 3:14-16; Romans 11:26, 27)

The Church: We believe that the true Church is the invisible Body of Christ, consisting of all who have been born again and baptized into this one Body by the Holy Spirit. (I Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 1:22, 23; Ephesians 2:19-22; I Corinthians 3:9-11)

We are to be "Witnesses": We believe we are to be witnesses to the Jew and also to the Gentile in every area; both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8; Romans 1:16, 17; Matthew 28:19, 20)

Sin: We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. We believe that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and that those who reach the age of moral responsibility become sinners in thought, word, and deed. (Ezekiel 18:4; Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:10-23; Romans 5:13)

Salvation: We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again in the Holy Spirit and kept by the Holy Spirit, thereby becoming children of God with the assurance of eternal life. (Ephesians 2:4-9; Romans 5:1-11; Romans 8:35-39; John 3:3-5)

Separation: We believe that all who love our Lord Jesus Christ should maintain good works, and that all saved persons are called into the life of separation from all worldly and sinful practices. (Romans 12:1, 2, 31; I Corinthians 6:19-20; II Corinthians 6:14-18; James 4:4-7; I John 2:15-17; Ephesians 4:1-3; Titus 3:8; James 2:14-20)

Satan: We believe in the personality and reality of Satan. (Isaiah 14:12-17; Matthew 4:1-11; John 8:44; Revelation 12:9, 10; Revelation 20:7-10)

Heaven and Hell: We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust. We believe in the everlasting conscious blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost. (Matthew 6:20; I Corinthians 5:1-4; Revelation 21:1-4; Revelation 20:1-15; Revelation 21:8; Mark 9:43-48)

Response from ministry

Because the ministry operates on the modified cash basis of accounting, expenses are recognized when funds are disbursed. In years evidencing a loss, the loss was the direct result of tithe funds allocated in one year but not disbursed until the following thereby distorting expenses for the year in which disbursement occurred. Management makes every effort to allocate and disburse in the same fiscal year whenever possible.

In order to ensure long term viability in the event of significant donor loss, the board of directors felt it wise to put reserves in place to allow for a significant portion of one year's operation.

In every generation, the Lord raises up mighty men and women whom He has called to carry on His work. In 1988, God spoke to three men and their wives living in different parts of the world, calling them to reach the lost in nations where the people either must or choose to learn orally, where electricity is not consistently available and where there is little or no contact with the outside world. The Lord gave each of them a piece of His plan to reach the unreached around the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ through radio.

Shortly after giving his heart and life to the Lord in 1965, Harold Kent, a Tampa, Florida businessman received a vision from the Lord. He saw the world as a dark globe. It was a beautiful deep blue, and as he watched it, he saw a dot of light appear, then another dot, then another until the whole earth was filled with dots of light. He didn't know the meaning of the vision, but the picture stayed in his mind. It was many years later before he would understand the vision.

In 1988, Harold and his wife, Jo Ann, were attending a ministry conference at which the speaker expressed a desire to broadcast radio programs on short wave to people who lived in parts of the world unreached with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The thought crossed his mind, "How do you know if anyone is listening?" He heard the Lord say, "Make fix-tuned radios and distribute them to people around the world who have no other way of hearing the Gospel."

Because Harold knew very little about radio, he was presented with a dilemma. How could he get the radio designed, produced and distributed around the world? One day a friend of Harold's, Dan Karvonen, was in Tampa on business and invited him to have lunch with him and a man from Israel, Ken Crowell, whom he had not previously met. Ken, an electronics engineer, was CEO of Galtronics Electronics in Tiberias, Israel. As Harold talked with Ken about the vision for fix-tuned radios, Ken's mouth literally fell open. He shared that he had also been given a vision about producing fix-tuned radios and had spent much time engineering such a radio but had not carried it further because he didn't know what to do next. The plans for the fix-tuned radio were in his desk drawer at home. They knew the Lord was working in bringing them together.

Ken had heard of a man in Canada, Allan McGuirl, who also had the same vision and was working with Gospel Recordings in Ontario. Allan was acquainted with many missionaries around the world and many missions organizations doing Christian radio broadcasting around the world. After Ken and his wife, Margie, met with Allan and his wife, Florrie, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, the three men arranged to meet at the annual National Religious Broadcasters convention in February 1989 where they agreed to work together on fulfilling this vision of fix-tuned radios proclaiming the gospel around the world. Ken would finish the engineering; Harold would begin funding the project, and Allan would distribute the radios around the world. These three men realized they were a threefold cord not easily broken, and on August 15, 1989, Galcom International was officially born.

Radio production began in Tiberias, Israel with the first 40,000 radios tuned to Voice of Hope broadcasting from Lebanon and sent into Lebanon, Jordan and Syria. Testimonies began to arrive and with that encouragement, production went into full swing. Later, around the time of the Persian Gulf war, production was moved to Hamilton, Ontario in Canada. To date, over a million fix-tuned radios have been distributed around the world allowing hearts to be touched by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Galcom International in Canada (GalcomCanada) continues to produce not only fix-tuned radios but also combination devices including both fix-tuned radio and audio bible capability. Both Galcom International, Inc. in Canada and Galcom International USA, Inc. (GalcomUSA) in the United States network with their respective donors and end users as well as take distribution teams around the world. Though separate legal entities in two different countries, the two organizations are the fruit of the three-fold cord formed in 1989 and continue to cooperate in advancing the Kingdom around the world through audio technology.

Program accomplishments

The program highlights for 2020 were 32,008 units for Sub Saharan Africa and 6,656 units for various other locations throughout the world. In addition, compassionate donors contributed to providing basic nutritional sustenance to low income residents significantly impacted by COVID 19 in countries in which GalcomUSA has trusted ministry partners serving local communities.
