Vision: American Heritage Girls is the premier national character development organization for young women that embraces Christian values and encourages family involvement.

Our progressive program emphasizes six key components to achieve the mission of building women of integrity known as the AHG Program Emphases which includes programming, experiences, and resources for every age level. Girls who complete the program will be Christ-following servant leaders who are honoring, relational, anchored in Christ, and competent. AHG's family-friendly, multi-level Troop structure is specifically created with the physical, mental, social, spiritual, and emotional needs of today's girls aged 5 to 18.

Mission statement

Building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country.

Statement of faith

American Heritage Girls is a Christ-centered leadership and character development ministry. The following Statement of Faith applies to all American Heritage Girls' Charter Organizations and Adult Members.

"We believe that there is one Triune God-Father; Jesus Christ, His one and only Son; and the Holy Spirit-Creator of the universe and eternally existent. We believe the Holy Scriptures (Old and New Testaments) to be the inspired and authoritative Word of God. We believe each person is created in His image for the purpose of communing with and worshipping God. We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit, Who enables us to live godly lives. We believe that each individual is called to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength; and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We believe God calls us to lives of purity, service, stewardship, and integrity."

American Heritage Girls was founded around a kitchen table in 1995 by a group of parents living in a northern suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. Their frustration with the way their beloved scouting organization was handling matters of faith and culture led to a vision of a fun-filled, Christ-centered, service-oriented, outdoor emphasized educational opportunity for girls. This new Christian organization would contribute to the betterment of each girl's community while strengthening her walk with Christ. American Heritage Girls was born from this vision, along with a healthy helping of tears and prayer. The very first AHG Troop was made up of a wonderful group of 4th and 5th-grade girls.

Small seeds of hope grew into mighty oaks of tradition. AHG experienced a substantial membership increase in 2010 when they became the first all-girl program to partner with the Boy Scouts of America, a partnership that later ended when BSA changed their membership standards. Parents clamored for a BSA alternative, and AHG used their resources to help connect and mobilize these parents to form a faith-based scouting-type program for boys known as Trail Life USA.

In the ensuing years, American Heritage Girls has continued to grow with the help and support of a nationwide network of parents who share the goal of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country.

By the grace of God, tens of thousands have been reached and served by the AHG Ministry over the years. Today, the need for a Christian organization with a strong program that helps girls develop their gifts and skills and grow in the knowledge of who they are and whose they are in Christ is stronger than ever.

Program accomplishments

Today there are Troops in every state and in 15 countries around the world through the Trailblazer Program. A variety of Christian denominations are also represented as Charter Organizations for Troops. There are thousands of volunteer members across the country helping girls to grow in their faith, cultivate a heart for service, enjoy the great outdoors, and have more fun than they can imagine!

With your support, AHG can continue its mission to build women of integrity, introduce the ministry to more churches and schools nationwide, and in turn, grow the kingdom of God. There is a great need in our world for AHG in a time such as this. Join in supporting AHG, the premier character and girl leadership development program for girls that embraces Christian values and encourages every young woman to grow into the leader God created her to be.
