Purpose

Christian Aid Mission is an evangelical missionary organization that seeks to establish a witness for Jesus Christ in every tribe and nation by assisting effective indigenous ministries through prayer, advocacy and financial support. These strategic indigenous ministries are reaching the unreached for Christ in areas of the world where there are no believers, where Christians suffer from poverty or persecution, and where foreign missionaries are not allowed.

As one of the oldest U.S. organizations to assist and promote indigenous ministries, Christian Aid Mission networks with hundreds of indigenous ministry leaders around the world and partners with international missions organizations to identify and reach unengaged and unreached people groups for Christ. Since 1953, Christian Aid Mission has identified, evaluated and assisted more than 1,500 ministries in more than 100 countries.

Christian Aid Mission currently assists more than 500 ministries overseas that have tens of thousands of indigenous or native missionaries in the field. These ministries are engaging more than 1,000 unreached people groups in more than 100 countries around the world.

The Mission has Area Directors who work with ministries in seven regions of the world: South Asia, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Former Soviet Union, Africa, China and Latin America. Area Directors travel to their regions and communicate frequently with ministries to keep up with their work, needs and current events.

Christian Aid Mission extensively evaluates each ministry for their faith, financial integrity and fruitfulness before and while assisting a ministry. They function as the ministries' "supply line" by serving as their administrative and fundraising staff. We make the needs of the various ministries known in the U.S. and other industrialized countries and ask for prayer and support. We print and send ministries' mailings and promote their work through our website, Prayerline - a monthly prayer needs calendar, church presentations, Missions Insider - a weekly e-newsletter, a printed magazine Christian Mission, social media and blog.

Contributions to it are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. It is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).

Christian Aid Mission seeks to establish a witness for our Lord Jesus Christ in every tribe and nation (Matthew 24:14) by assisting indigenous missionary ministries.

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Matthew 24:14 (KJV)

Christian Aid Mission's Mission Statement is:

Christian Aid Mission supports effective indigenous missionary ministries based in lands of poverty and persecution through prayer, advocacy and financial support, giving priority to those reaching unreached peoples with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Statement of faith

Christian Aid Mission's Statement of Faith is:

1 We believe in the divine inspiration and authority of the Holy Scriptures. By this is meant a miraculous guidance of the Holy Spirit in their original writing (II Pet. 1:21), extending to all parts of the Old and New Testaments, applying even to the choice of words, so that the result is the very Word of God; the only infallible rule of faith and practice (II Tim. 3:16).

2 We believe in one Lord God Almighty, who has revealed Himself as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

3 We believe that as through one man sin entered the world and death through sin, so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned, and the wages of sin is death (Rom. 5:12, 6:23).

4 We believe in the virgin birth and true deity of our Lord Jesus Christ; in His death as the only true substitute for sin, and that His shed blood was and is a sufficient expiation for the sins of all men. We believe in His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension, and exaltation above all heavens (Eph. 4:10).

5 We believe that men are justified by faith alone and are accounted righteous before God only through the merit of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and that all who are so justified are born anew and receive eternal life which is Christ in us the hope of glory (Col. 1:27), but that those who have not been born again shall not see the Kingdom of God (John 3:3).

6 We believe in the everlasting blessedness of the saved who are in Christ, and that God Himself will judge the lost who are outside of Christ with eternal punishment.

7 We believe that a local church is the body of Christ in that locality (I Cor. 12:27), but that all regenerated believers are also one body in Christ (Eph. 2:16) and constitute the true church (Col. 1:24).

8 We believe in the pre-millenial second coming to earth of our Lord Jesus Christ in power and great glory, that He will change our vile bodies and fashion them like unto His glorious body (Phil. 3:21). We believe that He shall reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords upon this earth for a thousand years (Rev. 20:5), and in Heaven forever.

9 We believe it to be the supreme responsibility of the disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ to plant His church among all nations (Rom. 1:5, Rev. 5:9).

History

Christian Aid Mission's founder, Dr. Robert "Bob" Finley, gained first-hand knowledge regarding the effectiveness of indigenous missionaries while serving as a missionary evangelist in Asia from 1948-1951. During this time he witnessed that native Christians were more effective than foreigners in reaching their own people, they just lacked the tools. They spoke the same language, they knew the customs and political and social environments, and they lived like the people they were trying to reach. Most importantly, they did not identify the gospel as something foreign. He returned to America, determined to inform churches and Christians about the need to support native missionaries and share the gospel with foreign students visiting the U.S. Those who accepted Christ could then take God's Word back to their respective countries or people groups.

In 1953, Finley started International Students, Inc. (ISI). In its first year, ISI began supporting native missionaries such as Dr. Wei Sia from Taiwan. Sia had come to America for advanced medical training, and then returned to Taiwan where he opened a clinic for tuberculosis patients. From the beginning of ISI, Finley realized the need to have an overseas division to provide financial assistance for native ministries, especially those led by men and women of God whom he had known as foreign students in America. In 1970, the Assisting Indigenous Developments or A.I.D. division of ISI was spun off as Christian Aid Mission, with Finley serving as president after having served as president of ISI for 17 years.
,br> Over the years, Area Directors were added to oversee seven regions of the world as the ministries Christian Aid Mission added began to grow: South Asia, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Former Soviet Union, Africa, China and Latin America. Area Directors travel to their regions to visit ministries and communicate frequently to keep up with their ministry needs and current events. Nearly all are native to the country they serve.

Today, Christian Aid Mission assists more than 500 ministries that have tens of thousands of indigenous or native missionaries in the field. These ministries are engaging more than 1,000 unreached people groups in more than 100 countries around the world.

Needs

With fervent prayer, we can reach the very throne of God on behalf of our brothers and sisters around the world - Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

Please pray for God's provision over these needs:

  • Pray for indigenous missionaries around the world who live in persecuted areas and poor living conditions who have such a bold burden for the lost that they are even willing to risk their lives to share Christ.
  • Pray for the more than 6,500 unreached people groups who have never heard the name of Jesus that God will send a witness to them.
  • Pray for churches to be planted and new believers discipled in unreached areas of the world as well as Bible translations for the first time in new languages and dialects.
  • Pray for God to raise up indigenous leaders and provide them missionary training and support.
  • Pray for indigenous ministries sharing Christ's love by meeting physical needs including childcare and education, feeding the hungry, wells and clean water projects, medical outreach, prison ministry, disaster relief, helping victims of human trafficking.
  • Pray for opportunities for self-sustaining projects to further ministry reach and independence
