In the United States, there is one trained pastor for every 250 people. Outside of the United States, there is one trained pastor for every 450,000! Research shows that 95% of all pastors and church leaders outside of the United States have little or no theological training for their ministries. As a result, our ministry with GTN is seeking to invest all of our energy and resources into resolving this inequity.

Mission statement

Our mission is to encourage and equip indigenous church planters, pastors and Christian leaders throughout the developing world so that they can more effectively equip their congregations to be prepared to evangelize and disciple their community for Christ!

Statement of faith

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. (Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14) Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13) The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1) Man is made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. He is the supreme object of God's creation. Although man has tremendous potential for good, he is marred by sin. In Adam, all mankind fell into sin with the result that all men are sinners. Men are justly condemned to eternal judgment and can do nothing to merit salvation. (Genesis 1:27; 9:6; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 2:2,3,5; 3:23; 5:12; Isaiah 59:1,2; Ephesians 2:1, 8-9) Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin's penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1) The Bible is God's word to all men. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian belief and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5) Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence. (John 3:16; John 2:25; John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; 1 John 5:11-12; Matthew 25:31-46) The Church is composed of all believers. It is the body and bride of Christ, formed by the baptism of the Holy Spirit and existing in two aspects, universal and local. The universal Church is an elect company of believers, baptized by the Holy Spirit into one body. Its mission is to witness of its head, Jesus Christ, preaching the gospel among all nations. The local Church is a group of believers voluntarily joined together in love (fellowship) to worship God with praise and thanksgiving, and to glorify Jesus Christ through an involved effort to disciple others by the preaching of the gospel, and the exercise of spiritual gifts. (Ephesians 1:22,23; 5:24-30; I Corinthians 12:4-13,27) Angels were originally created holy, but now because of Satan's rebellion, there is also an unholy angelic kingdom, referred to as demons. (Colossians 1:16; Job 38:6,7; Psalm 148:2-5; Jude 6; Matthew 25:41; Ephesians 6:11,12; I Timothy 5:21; Revelation 12:9) The Bible sets forth two ordinances, the Lord's Supper and water baptism. The Lord's Supper is to be celebrated regularly in remembrance of Christ's death on the cross, and in expectation of His return. Water baptism is an outward testimony of a person's belief in Christ. Immersion is the ideal means set forth in Scripture. (Matthew 28:19,20; Mark 16:15,16; Acts 8:12,36-38; 9:18; 10:47; I Corinthians 11:23-26)

Response from ministry

No response has been provided by this ministry.

In 2004, Paul and Lisa Madson began the ministry of Global Training Network (GTN). After 25 years serving in the pastorate (first as an associate pastor and then extensively as a church planter and senior pastor), Paul experienced an increasing desire to help meet the growing global need for pastoral and leadership training throughout the Majority World. His awareness of this need began in the late 1990's via several international trips to do pastoral training. After much prayer and consultation with fellow pastors, mission leaders, and close friends, Paul and Lisa decided to transition out of the pastorate and into fulltime missions work. In June of 2004, they formed Global Training Network, an organization devoted to training, equipping and encouraging pastors, church planters and Christian leaders around the world. Since 2004, the ministry has grown from a staff of two to over 100. The majority of GTN's staff have served in full-time pastoral ministry for 25 years or more. While the work of GTN initially began in north India, it has now expanded throughout the Majority World. GTN currently has invitations to provide training for pastors and leaders in another 14 countries.
