Jesus House

Summary

At the Jesus House, love lives here. The Jesus House is more than an emergency shelter providing refuge to the homeless who are mentally ill and addicted. The Jesus House soup kitchen serves approximately 100,000 hot and nutritious meals each year to the homeless of Oklahoma City. The Jesus House food basket outreach distributes hundreds of shopping carts loaded with essential grocery items to poverty stricken households each week. The Jesus House clothing and used furniture outreach provides hundreds of articles of clothing and household items to people in need every week. And the Jesus House street ministry outreach delivers a hot, fresh breakfast each week to the unsheltered homeless of OKC where they are on the street with fellowship and encouragement to forsake the street for programs that work.

History

Jesus House opened in 1973 in a storefront building at Reno and Walker Avenues by Sister Ruth Wynne and Sister Betty Adams. In the early years, our location often changed. Still, Jesus House was always on the front line providing those in need with food, clothing, shelter, and spiritual encouragement. We have no profit motive, only a strong desire to meet the needs of our suffering neighbors and help those who have nowhere else to turn. Love has always and will continue to live here!
