Purpose

Founded on the purpose of educating and developing the whole person for the glory of God, we believe there's more for us to do than simply teach and ultimately, there's more for our children to do than simply learn. Within these walls, there's more than just books and technology, more than just athletics and arts.

At TCA, our students are challenged academically through rigorous curriculum in 21st century classrooms. From Lower School through Middle School and into Upper School, we are dedicated to preparing our students to pursue higher education at the country's most prestigious and challenging colleges and universities.

Mission statement

"Educating and developing the whole person for the glory of God" (Colossians 2:8)

Statement of faith

A. We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of both the Old and New Testaments, i.e. that the very words of the original Scriptures are infallible and inerrant and that they are our final and absolute authority in every area of life and knowledge.

B. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three co-equal Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

C. We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and that He is both undiminished deity and genuine humanity in one Person forever.

D. We believe that God the Holy Spirit is a personal Being who convicts the world of sin and who regenerates, indwells, empowers, guides, and bestows spiritual gifts on believers, and who seals them eternally for God.

E. We believe that man was created by a direct act of God in His image, not from previously existing life, that all men sinned in Adam (the historical father of the entire human race) and thus incurred both physical and spiritual death, and that all men have inherited a sinful nature.

F. We believe that Jesus Christ died as substitutionary sacrifice for our sins and that through faith in Him as Lord and Savior, we are declared righteous by God and are eternally secure in Christ.

G. We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, totally apart from human merit, and that the experience of regeneration produces a new creature in Christ.

H. We believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead-physically and bodily-and that He ascended in like form into heaven, where He continually ministers as our Great High Priest and Advocate.

I. We believe that this age will be consummated by the literal, visible, bodily return of Jesus Christ to this earth.

J. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

K. We believe that all believers are under the mandate of Jesus Christ to proclaim the gospel to all the world.

Our Doctrinal Statement does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs and teachings. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality and the proper conduct of mankind and is the sole and final source of all that we believe and teach. For purposes of faith, doctrine, practice, policy and discipline, the TCA Board of Trustees designates the Headmaster as TCA's final interpretive authority on the Bible's meaning and application.

History

Founded in 1970, TCA was started by a small group of parents who were committed to building a school with a strong curriculum within a framework of traditional Christian values. TCA opened with 80 students, grades nine through twelve, and its first graduating class had one senior. In 1976, the growing school moved to the Town of Addison, which at the time only had a few houses, no water or sewage hook-ups and plenty of sorghum fields.

Today, TCA is one of the largest, single-campus, preK-12 schools in the country, serving over 1,400 students on a debt-free, 40+ acre campus. The school is fully accredited, and TCA graduates are accepted to a wide variety of colleges and universities, including the nation's most prestigious institutions. Our families attend over 197 different churches, representing 22 different Christian denominations and religious groups.
